Problems with drugs or alcohol are often factors leading to a person becoming homeless, and levels of substance use are relatively high amongst the homeless population. In turn, the traumatic nature of life on the streets can encourage substance use as a coping mechanism.

Pathway contributes to research and guidance on supporting excluded individuals dealing with addictions. As demonstrated by the multidisciplinary approach taken by our Pathway Teams, we also encourage the development of holistic models of care to address their often-complex needs, including physical health, mental health, social care and housing concerns.
