Peter was born in Sydney, Australia and graduated with his medical degree from the University of New South Wales in 1991. He subsequently completed his GP training in Sydney where he worked at the Kirketon Road Centre. It was here that he first developed an interest in working with people experiencing homelessness and social exclusion.

Having moved to London in 1998 he started working at the Health E1-Homeless Medical Centre in East London in 2003 and continues to work as an inclusion health GP there today. He worked as a GP with Special Interest in Substance Misuse in London for over ten years, and started the Pathway Homeless Team at the Royal London Hospital in 2011 as part of the randomised control trial looking at the effectiveness of the Pathway model in supporting people experiencing homelessness admitted to hospital. Over time, the team has grown into a truly multidisciplinary one, today consisting of a GP, nurse, occupational therapist, social worker and care navigator with lived experience of homelessness.

Peter continues to be clinical lead of the team, also joining Pathway in May 2023 as Deputy Medical Director and Deputy Clinical Lead for the Partnership Programme.
