Anthony is General Counsel and Director of Fitness to Practise at the General Medical Council (GMC) the UK’s national regulator for doctors. He leads the GMC’s work delivering the statutory function of ensuring doctors are fit to practise. This includes an extensive reform programme, in-house legal services and acting as senior adviser to the Chief Executive, Chair and Council. Anthony is also the Scottish Government senior sponsor and Senior Management Team champion for the GMC’s BME Network.  

Anthony is an independent member of the corporation governing Hills Road Sixth Form College and has previous experience in social housing from roles with Tower Homes Ltd and London and Quadrant Housing Trust.  

He has worked in public service for most of his career with the then Department of Health and Social Security, the Crown Prosecution Service and in Local Government. He is a solicitor and holds a combined honours degree in English and Literature and an MBA.
