This Framework, developed and published by the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, is an educational and practical guide exploring areas of clinical practice where profound social exclusion impacts patient safety, engagement and overall health outcomes. It was co-designed with people with lived experience of social exclusion, clinicians, educators, and community and organisational partners.
There are three units to the Framework which define the knowledge, skills, and attitudes contributing to health care which prioritises inclusion and equity.
The Framework is targeted at professionals in postgraduate medical training or in clinical care settings to support clinical learning and reflection, teaching and training, supervision and mentoring, the design of education programmes, quality improvement and service development.
