We are pleased to announce details of our February Masterclass, which will focus on improving palliative and end of life care for people experiencing homelessness.

The session will be led by Dr Briony Hudson and Sam Dorney-Smith of UCL, joined by Pathway Lived Experience volunteers Sahar Khan and Joanne Kennedy.

The Masterclass will provide:

  1. An overview of a decade of research undertaken by Dr Briony Hudson and Dr Caroline Shulman in the field of palliative and end-of-life care for people experiencing homelessness.
  1. An introduction to a new Homelessness and Palliative Care website and other useful resources.
  1. A briefing on the NIHR-funded IMPROVE Community of Practice Programme.

Led by Pathway Fellows Dr Briony Hudson, Dr Caroline Shulman and Sam Dorney-Smith, the IMPROVE programme is designed to help improve access to quality palliative and end of a life care for people experiencing homelessness.

The IMPROVE intervention has been piloted in 9 places in the UK and the next phase of the programme is due to start in 10 new locations across England in March 2026.

The Masterclass will share:

  • Lived experience perspectives of working on the project and how this is improving delivery.
  • Teaching films and other co-produced resources created as part of the comprehensive research programme.
  • Details on how people from the 10 new locations (see note below) can be involved in the next phase of the programme.
  • Information on how all Masterclass attendees can access the resources and advice available to everyone at the end of the IMPROVE programme evaluation.

We look forward to welcoming you.
