Pathway are delighted to announce that they have been awarded a grant of €300,000 (around £260,000) by UCB’s global Community Health Fund.

Supporting organisations to reduce health disparities among vulnerable populations, the Community Health Fund’s aims are aligned with Pathway’s, working to tackle the health injustice faced by people experiencing homelessness.

The Community Health Fund, which is managed by the King Baudouin Foundation, has recently announced a new approach to its work, partnering with fewer organisations and building deeper, longer-term relationships with each of them.

Pathway is honoured to be one of just two charities in the UK, and twelve globally, chosen to receive the awards (to be paid over three years) in the latest round of funding. We are excited about the opportunities to work in close collaboration with the UCB Community Health Fund to bring lasting impact for people experiencing homelessness.

Xavier Hormaechea, Secretary General of the UCB Community Health Fund, said:

“By providing more meaningful support over more time, we hope to help create change that truly lasts. By focusing our support where it can make the greatest difference, I hope we help these organisations create fairer health outcomes and brighter futures for the people they serve.”

Alex Bax, Pathway CEO, says:

“We are enormously grateful to the UCB’s Community Health Fund for their shared commitment to tackling the appalling health inequities faced by people experiencing homelessness.

Major barriers to accessing the right healthcare result in preventable diseases going untreated and, tragically, people dying on average 30 years younger than the general population.

UCB’s generous support will help us build on our work supporting the NHS to deliver equitable, compassionate and effective healthcare for the most excluded in society.”
