We are delighted to announce details of our April Masterclass, which will focus on Tackling Stigma through Co-production. The session will be led by Dr Alex Macnamara, a public health consultant for Hull City Council. Alex will be joined by a colleague* from Forum, a lived experience project in Hull working to ensure people with multiple unmet needs are involved in service planning and system change.
Local research and work in Hull (done in collaboration with lived experience) has highlighted experiences of stigma in the city and how it impacts on people with multiple unmet needs. The insights from this work have informed local work aiming to address the complex issues around stigma and systemic culture and attitudes. The response is focused on designing co-produced, practical solutions for delivery in health settings to tackle this issue in a compassionate and non-judgemental way.
The Masterclass will include:
- Stories, insights and experiences of stigma
- How these experiences informed co-produced action and solutions
- A co-produced film on stigma in healthcare
- Details of actions to improve culture and attitudes in healthcare settings including Hospital Study Days and the Culture & Attitudes Group
- Examples of international best practice in this field
We look forward to welcoming you to the Masterclass!
